Diamond Life: A Jeweler Up His Job

Upon entering the study with the same name Kim Faye is a bit like finding a pirate treasure. Located on the northern edge of the forest area of downtown Westport, outside the store hides the rich and brilliant art inside. Precious stones and metals are averages Kim, and the pieces created with such skill to make them eternal.

"Fine Jewelry has always been an investment, regardless of the economy," Kim told me recently that through its showroom, easy elegance evident everywhere. "So I try to create pieces that do not want to put on hold when the next wave comes."

Kim Pearl pieces are a perfect example of the depth of a marriage between classic and contemporary. "Pearls may seem like a really stuffy or dated," he said. "But it does not take much to update them and make them more versatile." He includes a larger, hand clasps and oblong beads that give them feel very edgy. We can imagine a young Audrey Hepburn in all her eccentric style, thankfully, slender neck drapes into blocks of beads from Kim.

But pearls are just the beginning of what you’ll expose inside Kim’s store. “I like to do funky stuff on leather cords. I love turquoise and moonstone,” she smiles. “And I always make sure that we have a great selection across price points.” In addition to custom designed diamond engagement rings and ornately woven gold bib necklaces, Kim also designs charms and casual Wedding rings at prices under $50. “They’re great for girls, bridesmaids, even young moms. And because I’m independent, I have the suppleness to do these things.”

Whether you have a piece you want to inform or you’re in the market for a new heirloom, Kim can help you create exactly the piece you’ll appreciate for years. “My inspiration is in the life that’s all around us—the people, the colors—it’s everywhere.” Kim’s inspiration may be ubiquitous, but the pieces she creates are one of a kind. That’s the alchemy of her creativity.
